Once texting is set up, your shop has its own number and every customer conversation lives in one thread.
What lands in the thread
- Quotes, invoices, booking confirmations, appointment reminders, and status updates you send from jobs
- Customer replies, including answers deferred from the quote-question chat
- Texts from numbers you've never messaged: a brand-new number texting your shop gets a client record automatically (named "Texter" plus the number's last digits, rename it when you learn who they are), so the message lands in a real thread and you get notified. No inbound text is ever dropped.
- AI receptionist conversations, when it owns the thread
Where you text from
Open the texting drawer from any client or vehicle to read the history and reply. Opening a thread marks its messages read for the whole shop, and every outbound text is labeled with who sent it: the staff member's name, the AI receptionist, or an automated message. Inbound replies also surface in the Outreach inbox and fire notifications, so nothing sits unread.
Humans outrank the AI
The receptionist automatically stays out of threads where a human should be: customers with a car actively in the shop, threads your staff texted recently, and replies to outreach campaigns. The moment you type in a thread, it is yours.
Every message respects opt-outs and the mandatory quiet hours (9pm to 8am). Customers who unsubscribe stay unsubscribed. A texting STOP silences texts only: quotes, invoices, and campaigns still reach that customer by email.
